Please be informed that due to personal reasons soloist Elīna Garanča will not be able to participate in the concert. She will be replaced by Joseph Calleja (Malta), one of the world’s most celebrated tenors. The conductor Karel Mark Chicon will be replaced by Maestro Robertas Šervenikas. The format and programme of the event remain unchanged. Please be reminded that the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society has the right to change the date, time, venue, programme and performers of concerts/events.
The foremost stars of the music world like coming to Vilnius to pay their respects to the art manager Gintautas Kėvišas celebrating his jubilee. Among them pianist and conductor Justus Frantz, tenor Adam Diegel, renowned violinist Julian Rachlin, violist Yuri Bashmet and others including late composer Krzysztof Penderecki.
Kėvišas’ biography is adorned with such significant acts as the founding of the prestigious Vilnius Festival, serving as Deputy Director General for artistic affairs as well as Director General of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, member of the Vilnius City Council, Chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and Director General of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. A consultant to renowned international festivals and manager of significant international art projects, he has often joked that the famous adage “Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” is very true for him. “You could say you have the happiest person in front of you,” he said in one of his interviews.
This time, on the occasion of Kėvišas’ 70th anniversary, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Concert Hall will be hosting Joseph Calleja, one of the world’s most coveted tenors, Edgaras Montvidas, one of the world’s most famous tenors with an incredibly wide repertoire of successful operatic roles, Viktorija Miškūnaitė, hailed as one of the best Lithuanian opera soloists, the pianist Simon Trpčeski, often compared to Alexander the Great himself in terms of his significance for Macedonia, and the best Lithuanian music forces – the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and its artistic director and conductor Sergej Krylov, the Choir of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra’s wind instrument and percussion groups, and conductor Robertas Šervenikas.
