About
The Alumni Grandi series of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts continues, presenting the school’s most distinguished alumni, now well-known musicians. This time the impressive programme is presented by pianist Sonata Alšauskaitė, the winner of the 2003 International M. K. Čiurlionis Piano and Organ Competition. She has also won first prizes in competitions such as Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte in Usti nad Labem, Carlo Czerny in Prague, Konzerteum in Athens and N. Rubinstein in Paris. The pianist has given concerts in various European countries, in Chile, collaborated with Lithuanian and foreign orchestras, and is a member of chamber ensembles.
The most prominent Lithuanian trio Kaskados, involving violinist Rusnė Mataitytė, cellist Edmundas Kulikauskas and pianist Albina Šikšniūtė, will present the gems of chamber music. The ensemble has become an important phenomenon in Lithuanian music, without which one cannot imagine performance of masterpieces of the world classics or premieres of contemporary Lithuanian composers. The Trio regularly presents original projects (such as the Lithuanian music programme with a painting improvisation of the famous Lithuanian artist Stasys Eidrigevičius on stage, evening of Vidmantas Bartulis’ music with the participation of multimedia artists Saulius Valius and Daumantas Plechavičius, the concert J. Haydn Plus with Lithuanian premieres inspired by the classic, and so on), and takes part in the most important festivals in Lithuania and abroad.
A varied programme of piano solos and trios (from Beethoven to Kutavičius) will not only reveal the mastery and virtuosity of these renowned alumni of the M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art, but also invite you to enjoy the inexhaustible power and beauty of the music. To spread it is the main goal of the performers.
