About
A year ago, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society’s Musica Humana Chamber Ensemble celebrated its 50th anniversary with great fanfare. “Thanks to enthusiastic musicians, the Ensemble was formed 50 years ago, and its long-time artistic director, Prof. Algirdas Vizgirda, nurtured the creative path of this collective for many years. The Ensemble quickly earned the attention and love of audiences from Vilnius to the smallest towns and concert halls in various foreign countries. Many famous Lithuanian musicians have worked and continue to work in the Ensemble, creating its history with their music making and love for the Ensemble,” says Prof. Robertas Beinaris, the current artistic director and conductor of Musica Humana. “This concert is like a reflection on the anniversary year, a musical post scriptum to the celebration.”
One of the most important features of Musica Humana is the diversity of its repertoire. Tonight’s chamber music concert will feature works by the luminaries of Baroque and Classicism – Johann Sebastian Bach, his son Johann Christian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as well as contemporary composers Egīls Straume from Latvia and Osvaldas Balakauskas from Lithuania, highlighting the creative and stylistic diversity of the performers of the Ensemble.
