About
The Alytus music school symphony orchestra Svajonė, now in its third decade, graces the stage at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Concert Hall. Led by teacher Daiva Martikonytė, the string orchestra evolved into a symphony orchestra, nurtured by renowned educators and conductors Pranas Stepanovas, Laurynas Vakaris Lopas, Modestas Pitrėnas, and Karolis Variakojis. Currently working with a 60-member orchestra, conductor and birbynė player Vytautas Kiminius inspires young performers to overcome challenges and expand the boundaries of classical music appreciation and performance. The winner of numerous international competitions, the orchestra has toured in Latvia, Belgium, France, Hungary, Poland, and the United Kingdom. The vinyl record Muzika kaip kinas (Music Like Cinema) has been released, the video essay Skrisk, Svajone (Fly, Dream) has been created, and a festival featuring five Lithuanian youth symphony orchestras was held in Alytus. Svajonė participates in festivals organized by the European Federation of Youth Symphony Orchestras, Eurorchestries International.
This concert programme features film characters who have accompanied us from our childhood to the present day. Each has its own story: in The Harry Potter Themes a magical world invites to the realm of fantasy; Forrest Gump is a musical tale of kindness, fate, and time; Mission: Impossible is all about pace, risk, adrenaline, and legend. The Godfather, though dark, is an extraordinarily beautiful portrait of family and honour; Titanic is a synthesis of romance and tragedy, framed by a heart-wrenching melody. Gabriel’s Oboe is one of the most poignant film themes ever created – a silent prayer rising above the world; Pirates of the Caribbean is a fiesta of energy, adventure, and orchestral playfulness.
Brimming over with youthful energy and enthusiasm, the musicians of Svajonė symphony orchestra invite everyone to enjoy a treasure trove of film music; after all, music knows no age, and dreams know no bounds.
