About
For 60 years, the musical The Sound of Music has been performed on various stages and screened in cinemas around the world. It is a heartfelt love story based on real events: the lives of the main characters, Maria, Captain Georg von Trapp, and his children, continue to move audiences of all ages to this day. The musical was staged on Broadway in New York in 1959, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. In 1965, an immortal feature film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer was shown in cinemas.
Entire generations know the memorable melodies of this musical, and many have played and sung its songs: Do Re Mi, Edelweiss, My Favourite Things, and others. Today, excerpts from The Sound of Music are presented by Musica Humana Ensemble and a whole group of its friends.
