About
The earthly journey of the distinguished violinist Professor Ingrida Armonaitė ended at dawn on the first day of 2025. To mark the anniversary of Armonaitė’s passing, a concert is being organized, bringing together her closest colleagues, long-time partners such as the Armonas Trio, and composers who collaborated with the performer. As a dedicated teacher, Armonaitė educated many excellent professional violinists, so her students, pupils, and graduates will also enrich the memorial concert.
The concert will feature some of the most notable pieces from the violinist’s repertoire, as well as the premiere of Tomas Kutavičius’ work Ingarmoni. The piece was dedicated to Armonaitė, but the violinist did not have the chance to perform it.
Musicologist Vytautė Markeliūnienė wrote: “Perhaps in today’s world, the concept of dignity is too often applied where one wishes, but it does not lose its authenticity and, in the case of Ingrida Armonaitė, it speaks first and foremost of honour, spiritual ennoblement, and solidity. Her respect for classical music, Lithuanian music, and score in general has become a criterion. (...) Looking at Armonaitė’s repertoire and remembering specific concerts and their programmes, we see a huge and valuable musical legacy: many traditional, but also rare and unique violin works, Lithuanian composers’ opuses, both earlier and more recent, which have been studied and interpreted with special respect.” Thus, everyone is invited to a unique concert that will unite a high level of professionalism and the memory of an outstanding violinist.
