About
“Music history has already happened. So, it’s time for the music of stories. Let us tell you about a world we can’t see, a world that no longer exists, or maybe even never existed. In this concert programme, three wonderful composers will spark your imagination by narrating three kinds of stories: the stories of their own lives and the real stories of lives of others; masterfully imagined stories and those that never happened, but sweet and comforting,” say the musicians of the Čiurlionis Quartet, who have borrowed the title of the concert from a work by the great Czech romanticist, Bedřich Smetana, From My Life.
The programme is also enriched with Lithuanian “musical story”. Vidmantas Bartulis’ work was inspired by Juozas Naujalis’ song Op, op, Nemunėli, based on a text by Andrius Vištelis. “Perhaps this song was born while Naujalis and Vištelis were sitting on the bank of the Nemunas river and talking quietly to each other?” – Bartulis asked. And, as if from pieces of a mosaic, he gradually assembled Naujalis’ original melody, which can be heard at the end of the piece.
