About
Christmas week features special guests from the United Kingdom. The Queen’s Six Vocal Ensemble was founded in 2008 to celebrate the 450th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, who inspired the Ensemble’s name.
The Queen’s Six is a group of musicians from the Choir of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. The Chapel Choir, involving girls, boys and twelve professional adult singers, sings at chapel services and also performs at private and public royal ceremonies. The six members of the Choir, Elisabeth, Thomas, Nicholas, Dominic, Andrew and Simon, have come together as an ensemble to bring a unique and wide-ranging repertoire of strict Gregorian chant, sophisticated renaissance opuses, folk songs, and lively jazz and popular arrangements to a wider audience.
Royal Christmas programme features Christmas carols from various periods and their arrangements for a cappella ensemble, including well-known melodies that are popular with the audience and are sung during the Christmas season, such as Jingle Bells or Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
