On the occasion of the centenary this year of the restoration of the Lithuanian state, the Vilnius Festival 2018 emphasises the vitality of Lithuania’s musical culture, the synergy of traditions and innovation, the expeditious aspiration to be an equal participant in processes of the global music industry and music market, and impressive international partnerships.
For many Lithuanian performers and composers, the Vilnius Festival has become a significant inaugural platform for their further career, it has built routes for international collaboration with a number of Lithuanian music festivals, and it has secured the prestige of Lithuanian composers and performers at international festivals and concert halls.
As an active participant in the formative processes of EU cultural policy, the Vilnius Festival takes part in the work of the European Festival Association and its Board, initiates Nordic-Baltic Festival Platform conferences and the exchange of music collectives, organises tours, and promotes contemporary composers.
The concerts in the 22nd Vilnius Festival will serve as a setting for meetings of leading Lithuanian and foreign musicians, all of whom will make their own distinctive contribution to the cultural community of the world and to a global Lithuania.
