June 2006 brings music lovers the tenth Vilnius Festival – its anniversary edition. It is gratifying that over the past decade the world's most distinguished musicians have visited the Lithuanian capital, and that the festival has inspired the creation of significant new works by Lithuanian composers. Most importantly, however, audience enthusiasm has never waned throughout these years. This can mean only one thing: the Vilnius Festival is successfully embarking on the second decade of its history. I wish everyone the most memorable experiences in the festival's concert halls and on its stages.
