About

The Lithuanian National Philharmonic Chamber Hall has the advantage of a cosy chamber venue that allows one to experience music up close, to mingle with it, or just to spend a delightful afternoon with music that stirs emotions. This time Čiurlionis Quartet’s programme focuses on the genre of the miniature by well-known Lithuanian and foreign composers. It includes Crisantemi (Chrysanthemums) by the famous opera composer Giacomo Puccini, Chant et fugue (Song and Fugue) by the unrivalled tango master Ástor Piazzolla, the graceful and elegant music of Teisutis Makačinas, as well as sonic souvenirs by other composers.

The concert will also feature the premiere of Jonas Tamulionis’ latest work, dedicated to Čiurlionis Quartet. His music always finds its way into the hearts of listeners, as his work is marked by such signposts as a very natural synthesis of Lithuanian folklore and modern compositional principles, an inventive incorporation of Spanish and Japanese elements, the timbres of the guitar, the accordion and the voice, and an eloquent melodics. The Quartet invites you to find out what pranks are hidden in Chromatika. Diatonics. Chromatika.
