About
The International Jascha Heifetz Competition for Violinists, held every four years in Vilnius, is a significant musical event that attracts talented young musicians from all over the world to Lithuania. This competition celebrates the memory of the famous Vilnius-born violinist Jascha Heifetz and continues his legacy.
The winners of the 5th and 6th International Jascha Heifetz Competition for Violinists, Ukrainian Dmytro Udovychenko and Spaniard Javier Comesaña Barrera, join forces with Lithuanian pianist Lukas Geniušas, renowned for his outstanding interpretations. Tonight’s programme is very special: alongside the classics, the musicians will offer a range of lesser-known 20th-century chamber music, increasingly gaining interest of both performers and listeners.
Both young violinists boast an impressive number of prizes at various international competitions, appearances in numerous festivals, participation in masterclasses as well as solo performances with renowned orchestras. They both play historic 18th century violins. In this concert, the young virtuosos will perform a programme that demands not only the highest level of craftsmanship but also artistic maturity.
