About
FALLA Imaginado is a project by pianist and composer Moisés P. Sánchez that presents a contemporary reinterpretation of Manuel de Falla’s work, blending tradition with a free, modern vision. Through his arrangements and an original suite, Sánchez explores Falla’s oeuvre, drawing upon harmonic and structural approaches as well as influences from jazz, symphonic rock, classical music, and French Impressionism.
Created in 2026 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Manuel de Falla, this programme features the composer’s most famous works, such as La vida breve (The Short Life) and El amor brujo (The Bewitched Love), alongside lesser-known pieces like Nocturne, Fantasía Baetica (Andalusian Fantasy), and Mazurka. All have been arranged for a trio format and are presented in a contemporary, innovative way. Improvisation is a key element here, emerging naturally from the composition and blurring the boundary between written and spontaneous music.
By bringing together internationally acclaimed musicians, violinist Ana María Valderrama and double bassist Pablo Martín Caminero, Sánchez formed a trio in which each performer reveals a distinctive creative vision. Together, they offer new perspectives on Falla’s diverse universe, embracing both his Spanish sound and his lesser-known, more abstract European side.
FALLA Imaginado is an invitation to reimagine: a vibrant, deeply musical journey through the timeless essence of Falla’s legacy.
